THE ZOO (narrative poem)
As the lights turned out and the zoo became quiet
Just the last of the people were leaving for the night
Including the manager, a tall geeky nerd
Who blew a kiss goodnight to the buffalo herd
All the animals gathered to the center of the zoo
Many were chattering and insulting the crew
The giraffe called order, head held very high
The lions felt short and started to cry
The monkeys stated mangos the answer to life
While the squirrels insulted the hippo’s fat wife
One elephant laughed so hard he fell to his side
And couldn’t get up no matter how hard he tried
The hyena stood silent in the corner like a stalker
Though he was only so old that he needed a walker
The penguin waddled over and said “What I miss?”
But of course that’s the moment that the meeting was dismissed
